Introducing Amara....
Chenille On Trend
Whilst Velvet is "having a moment" according to the independent, it seems so is chenille. Like velvet, chenille offers that fashionable look appealing to the current retro, opulent and dramatic trends. With these fabrics suiting the furniture style out at the moment, it is no wonder they are so popular.
Our latest fabric range ticks all the boxes; Amara is a beautiful soft chenille, making it an excellent fabric for sofas, chairs or dining furniture. With a retro feel, Amara goes nicely with the current popular home décor trend 70's influence, which is all about adding some glitz to your home. As the colder nights approach, we can only anticipate the appeal of Amara's comfort and soft touch growing.
Amara features a bold and unusual weft design that brings a new and stylish depth to traditional chenille fabric. Amara is adaptive; whether used as an all-over sofa fabric or experimenting with bold colours and texture subtly, Amara's tactile features add depth to a design.
Chenille is one of the best upholstery fabrics in textiles. One reason for this is its exceptional durability. Whilst traditional Chenille fabrics were made of cotton, viscose and acrylic fabrics, Amara is 100% polyester. This material provides a high rub test of 45,000 Martindale, making it an excellent choice for frequently used furniture such as everyday armchairs, sofas, and footstools. It has a delicate shine that adds an extra touch of elegance. Its short, thick pile provides an extremely soft feel, ideal for upholstery.
Traditional schemes
The Amara chenille is the way to go if you want a classic style. Esteemed for its glamour, silky texture and impressive longevity - it has a lavish and opulent feel. Amara looks beautiful on practically any piece of furniture and is fantastic for adding texture to a room with other flat weave textiles. A chenille sofa is a good choice if you want to create a more formal or classic setting. An accent chair can add a hint of elegance and contrasts nicely with other, more casual pieces and fabrics. Using a chenille like Amara on a contemporary design will modernise a space, but Amara upholstered on a more classic design will add sophistication and glamour. Whilst upstairs, adding Amara to a headboard would bring some luxury to a bedroom. Colours like Amber, Honey, Umber and Pecan have that traditional feel working well with heavier pieces in more dramatic settings.
Contemporary settings
While chenille fabric may traditionally have been more suited to classic designs, its more modern use is becoming popular in a contemporary setting. Amara's appearance is appealing as it's soft and inviting; this helps when used in a contemporary environment as often modern designed rooms can lose the sense of comfort. The beautiful thing about Amara is that it can either take centre stage in the space with its range of strong and rich colours, or it may be used more subtly. Whatever you select, a chenille piece of furniture is a strong, durable and comfy option! Colours like Cruise, Breeze, Luna, Seal and Shadow offer that contemporary palette that is trending right now. Upholstered onto a modern rounded design, the textured look of Amara would add extra depth and appeal. Likewise, the stronger, bold colours in the Amara range could be used to add a hint of colour through the use of cushions.
Once unimaginable, the chicest dining chairs are now covered in an array of velvet look fabrics, thanks to hardwearing properties that make chenille suitable for everyday use. The combination of pattern and texture will give any home uniqueness while providing an attractive and tasteful finish. This Amara sofa design looks even more luxurious with shimmering reflections, especially in this beautiful scheme. Use Amara Mouse with a scattering of mismatched neutral pillows to create a warm ambience. A combination of comfort, enjoyment, and functionality.
Touch Of Glamour
Velvet and, more recently chenille, has traditionally been linked with aristocracy and elegance, from Edwardian dresses to '20s devoré. While this magnificent fabric is no longer prohibitively expensive, it never fails to give a touch of sparkle and glamour to a place.
The gleaming sheen of our velvet and chenille ranges adds a beautiful shine to the fabric, bringing the colours to life. The variety of shades in our new Amara range offers more depth than other textiles, so your furniture won't seem boring! We frequently equate chenille and velvet furnishings with rich darker, toned colours, from deep emeralds to royal blues and maroon reds. These colours are more traditionally associated with velvets; however, we are seeing lighter, softer, more contemporary colours coming through.
While we adore chenille in over-the-top glam settings, it also works great in a palette-cleansing, masculine setting. The whites and oceanic tones in a room can allude to a warm yet classy backdrop for the rest of the space, bouncing off the breezy blues and relaxing textures for an easy, professional effect. The unique properties of chenille allow it also to be used sparingly, making it ideal for incorporating into part of the luxury trend. Using velvet or chenille as an accent adds little contrast to an opposing textured fabric or a contrasting tone on a decorative cushion. Consider incorporating Amara fabrics into even the most understated plan, in the same tone, to add a little 1930's elegance to a space. Every house can benefit from a bit of luxury.
So why Amara?
Amara is a beautiful chenille in various colours, from deep jewel tones to a subtle, softer palette. The quality is a dense fabric with a textured, detailed pattern with a high rub test result. Made from 100% polyester Amara is less prone to marking and crushing and has a great handle. Available with our GreenFR® flame retardant solution, Amara benefits from a greener, more sustainable FR.
