Meet the Quality and Development Team

24 June 2026

Innovation and quality have become defining priorities within the textile industry, as manufacturers face increasing pressure to deliver products that not only meet high performance standards but also align with evolving customer expectations. In a competitive and fast-moving market, staying ahead requires more than simply keeping up with trends – it requires a commitment to continuous improvement, creativity and precision at every stage of the process.

At Mobus, these principles are deeply embedded within our Quality and Development team. Their expertise spans everything from product testing and compliance to fabric development and customer support, helping ensure every fabric we bring to market delivers on both performance and design. Working closely with our design, sourcing and production teams, they play a vital role in shaping our collections, developing innovative solutions and maintaining the standards our customers rely on every day.

But beyond the technical knowledge, they're also a team of passionate problem-solvers, fabric enthusiasts and detail-oriented thinkers who genuinely care about creating better products.

So, we'd like to introduce the people behind the process.........

Meet Aleksandra: Turning Ideas into Fabrics Customers Love

Behind every successful fabric launch is a journey of innovation, testing, collaboration and expertise. As Quality & Development Manager, Aleksandra plays a central role in guiding that journey, helping to transform ideas into high-performing fabrics that meet customer needs and market demands. With 17 years of experience across fabric development, manufacturing, dyeing, finishing, coating, quality assurance and sourcing, Aleksandra brings a wealth of knowledge to every project she works on.

From Concept to Production
Aleksandra's role spans the entire fabric development process, from the earliest concept discussions through to final production. Working closely with suppliers, customers and internal teams, she ensures that every new fabric meets strict quality standards, delivers the required performance characteristics and aligns with customer expectations. It's a role that combines creativity, technical expertise and commercial understanding in equal measure.

A Career Built on Variety
After nearly two decades in the textile industry, one thing continues to make the role exciting: no two projects are ever the same.

"What I enjoy most is the variety," Aleksandra explains. "Every project is different."

Whether developing a completely new fabric, overcoming a technical challenge or refining a product to meet a specific customer brief, each project presents its own opportunities to innovate and problem-solve. Seeing an idea evolve from an initial concept into a finished product that customers genuinely value is one of the aspects of the job she finds most rewarding.

Bringing New Fabrics to Life
Developing a new fabric requires months of planning, collaboration and testing before it ever reaches the market. For Aleksandra, the most satisfying moment comes when all of that work comes together in a successful product launch.

"The most rewarding part is seeing months of development, testing and collaboration result in a successful product launch."

Knowing that a fabric has not only met a customer's brief but exceeded expectations makes every challenge along the way worthwhile.

Innovation with Purpose
When it comes to textile innovation, Aleksandra is particularly excited by the advances being made in sustainable fabrics. Developments in recycled fibres, circular manufacturing processes and technologies that improve performance while reducing environmental impact are helping to shape the future of the industry. For Aleksandra, the most exciting innovations are those that demonstrate sustainability and performance can work hand in hand without compromise.

What Happens Before a Fabric Reaches the Market?
Many customers see only the finished fabric, but a significant amount of work takes place behind the scenes before a product is ready for launch.

"Fabrics are rigorously assessed for performance, durability, colour consistency, compliance and suitability for their intended application."

Extensive testing and quality checks ensure every fabric meets the standards expected by both Mobus and its customers, helping guarantee reliability and long-term performance.

A Favourite Fabric
When asked to choose a favourite from the Mobus collection, Aleksandra points to Woolton.

At the moment, it stands out for its combination of strong performance, attractive aesthetics and soft handle. For Aleksandra, Woolton perfectly represents the balance of quality, innovation and practicality that sits at the heart of every Mobus development project.

A Culture of Exploration
Aleksandra's most-used phrase at work says a lot about her approach to innovation:

"Let's test it."

Rather than dismissing ideas too early, she believes in exploring possibilities and allowing evidence to guide decisions. Some of the best innovations begin as unconventional ideas, and by testing concepts thoroughly, the team can discover solutions that deliver genuine value for customers.

Life at Mobus
If Aleksandra had to describe Mobus in three words, they would be: Innovative. Reliable. Customer-focused.

Her favourite trend within the industry is the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance fabrics that combine environmental responsibility with exceptional technical performance. It's a trend that reflects the future direction of both the textile industry and fabric development as a whole.

Whether she's developing innovative new fabrics, reviewing performance data or helping bring customer ideas to life, Aleksandra's experience, curiosity and commitment to quality help ensure every new product meets the high standards that define Mobus.

Meet Jamie: Turning Customer Questions into Confident Solutions

When customers have questions about fabric performance, care, or maintenance, Jamie is often the one who helps them find the answers. As part of the Customer Quality Support team, he plays a key role in ensuring customers receive expert guidance and practical advice long after their furniture has left the showroom. Combining technical knowledge with a passion for problem-solving, Jamie helps bridge the gap between product performance and real-world customer experiences.

A Day of Investigation and Collaboration
No two days in Customer Quality Support are ever quite the same.

"A typical day is a mix of detective work, problem-solving and collaboration," Jamie explains.

From investigating customer-reported issues and analysing trends to working alongside technical teams to identify root causes and drive improvements, the role requires both analytical thinking and a customer-focused approach. It's this variety that keeps the job interesting and rewarding.

Helping Customers Get the Best from Their Fabrics
Many of the enquiries Jamie receives centre around fabric care, maintenance and performance. Whether customers need advice on cleaning methods, stain removal, fabric suitability or long-term care, his goal is always the same: helping them get the very best from their furniture textiles. By providing clear, reliable guidance, Jamie helps customers make informed decisions and feel confident in their choices.

Learning Through Customer Experiences
One of the things Jamie enjoys most about working closely with customers is the opportunity to learn.

"Every enquiry is different, and each one brings an opportunity to learn something new," he says.

Customers often share insights into how fabrics are being used in real-life environments, providing valuable feedback that helps Mobus continually improve both products and services.

What Great Customer Support Looks Like
According to Jamie, great customer support is about more than simply providing information.

"Customers don't just want information – they want clear, reliable guidance they can trust."

In the textile industry, that means combining technical product knowledge with practical, customer-focused advice. Whether helping someone choose the right fabric, navigate a cleaning challenge or understand care requirements, building confidence is always the priority.

"When customers know they can rely on expert advice and honest guidance, it creates trust in both the product and the company behind it."

And if that advice helps save a favourite sofa from an unexpected coffee spill? Even better.

Solving the Mystery
One of Jamie's most memorable challenges involved investigating a fabric performance concern that initially appeared to be a manufacturing issue. After working closely with the customer and gathering detailed information about the environment, usage patterns and care practices, it became clear that a combination of external factors was contributing to the problem. What made the case particularly interesting was the investigative process.

"It required looking beyond the obvious, asking the right questions and piecing together information from multiple sources before reaching a conclusion."

For Jamie, these are some of the most rewarding situations – turning a complex issue into a straightforward solution and giving customers confidence moving forward.

"Every mystery needs an ending," he says, "and it's even better when the sofa gets a happy one too."

Advice for Choosing Upholstery Fabrics
When it comes to selecting upholstery fabrics, Jamie's advice is simple: "Don't be afraid to ask questions and seek expert advice."

Choosing the right fabric can significantly affect how furniture performs over time, and understanding factors such as durability, maintenance requirements, and suitability for different environments can make all the difference.

After all, as Jamie puts it: "The best fabric isn't just the one that looks good in the showroom – it's the one that still looks good after real life has happened to it."

Evolving Customer Expectations
Over recent years, Jamie has seen growing demand for fabrics that deliver on more than just appearance. Customers are increasingly looking for products that combine durability, ease of maintenance and sustainability, while also wanting greater transparency around testing standards, performance characteristics and care requirements. As a result, providing clear and accurate information has become more important than ever.

A Tool He Couldn't Work Without
While technology plays an important role in modern quality support, Jamie still relies on one traditional tool above all else:
Pick glass – the old ways are the best ways.

Life at Mobus
If Jamie had to describe Mobus in three words, they would be: Innovative. Personable. Quality-driven.

His favourite current trend is the return of bold, vibrant colours that make furniture truly stand out and create impact within interiors.

And if you've spent any time around the office, you've probably heard his most-used phrase: "Who has moved my scissors?"

Whether he's helping customers care for their furniture, investigating complex quality queries or sharing expert advice, Jamie's combination of technical knowledge and customer-focused thinking helps ensure every enquiry ends with a solution customers can trust.

Meet Shannon: The Problem Solver Behind Quality Assurance

At Mobus, quality is about more than just checking products – it’s about ensuring consistency and reliability, and delivering the best possible experience for our customers. Shannon plays a key role in making that happen every day. As part of the Quality Assurance team, Shannon is responsible for maintaining colour continuity across our fabrics. This involves appraising shipping samples, checking quality returns and working closely with the warehouse team to ensure every product meets the high standards our customers expect.

A Passion for Problem Solving
What Shannon enjoys most about quality assurance is the investigative side of the role.

"There’s always something new," she explains. "I enjoy troubleshooting and problem-solving."

No two days are ever quite the same, and the challenge of identifying issues and finding effective solutions is what keeps the role interesting.

That passion for finding answers is reflected in the best career advice Shannon has ever received:

"Come to me with a solution, not a problem."

It's advice that has stayed with her throughout her career and helped shape her proactive approach to every challenge.

The Details That Matter
When assessing fabrics, Shannon has a keen eye for something that others may overlook – shade variation. While others might focus on manufacturing faults, Shannon's expertise lies in identifying subtle differences in colour that can impact consistency across products. It's this attention to detail that helps maintain the quality standards Mobus is known for.

A Favourite Fabric
When asked to choose a favourite fabric, the answer came easily: Odyssey.

With its vibrant colours, distinctive names and exceptional consistency, Odyssey stands out for all the right reasons.

"There are never any shipping sample problems," says Shannon. "It's a consistent fabric."

Trends and Innovation
One fabric trend currently catching Shannon's attention is DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finishes. Seeing water bead effortlessly off the fabric is not only practical but also, in her words, "cool" – a great example of how innovation continues to shape the textile industry.

Life at Mobus
If Shannon had to describe Mobus in just three words, they would be: Reliable. Supportive. Innovative.

Those qualities are reflected in the collaborative environment she works in every day – although there's one phrase that's heard more often than most around the office:

"Jamie!"

Indigo

Meet Indigo: Ensuring Quality Through Compliance

Behind every fabric that reaches our customers is a rigorous process of testing, analysis and compliance. At Mobus, Indigo plays a vital role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety, performance and quality.

As a Quality Compliance Analyst, Indigo's day-to-day responsibilities focus on making sure all fabrics comply with both legal and industry requirements. This includes carrying out physical and fire retardancy testing, reviewing chemical testing results, analysing technical data and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain consistent quality across the entire product range.

What Compliance Really Means
In the world of upholstery fabrics, compliance is about much more than ticking boxes.

"It means ensuring materials meet all required safety, performance and legal standards before reaching the customer," Indigo explains.

From fire retardancy and durability to chemical restrictions and overall product performance, compliance helps ensure fabrics are suitable for use within the furniture and interiors industry while meeting the expectations of customers and retailers alike.

Building Confidence Through Quality
For customers, compliance provides reassurance. By ensuring products are tested thoroughly and meet recognised standards, customers can have confidence that the fabrics they choose are safe, reliable and built to perform over time. It also helps protect both retailers and end users from potential quality issues, ensuring products deliver on both appearance and functionality.

A Constantly Evolving Industry
One of the biggest misconceptions about compliance is that it's a simple, fixed process. In reality, regulations, technologies and testing methods are constantly evolving. As new standards emerge and innovations develop, compliance professionals must continually adapt and stay informed.

"Testing methods continue to develop," says Indigo. "Compliance is far more detailed and adaptable than many people realise."

This ever-changing landscape is one of the reasons Indigo enjoys the role so much.

The Satisfaction of Solving Problems
What Indigo enjoys most about working in compliance is the combination of problem-solving and continuous learning.

"No two days are the same," she says. "Being surrounded by such a knowledgeable and supportive team makes a huge difference."

The opportunity to investigate challenges, find solutions and expand her expertise keeps the role both engaging and rewarding.

Setting the Standard at Mobus
When it comes to quality and compliance, Indigo believes Mobus stands apart through its commitment to exceptionally high standards. As regulations and technologies continue to change, the business works hard to stay ahead of industry developments, ensuring products remain compliant while also anticipating future trends and customer expectations.

This forward-thinking approach helps Mobus maintain its reputation as a trusted partner within the upholstery and interiors industry.

Creativity Beyond Compliance
Outside of work, Indigo's attention to detail extends into another passion: baking.

A keen baker, she's currently preparing to make her brother's wedding cake – which means colleagues can expect plenty of test bakes finding their way into the office over the coming months.

Trends to Watch
When it comes to interiors, Indigo is particularly enjoying the move towards rich, layered neutrals.

Chocolate browns, warm sand tones and muted greens are proving increasingly popular, creating sophisticated and calming spaces. Alongside these colour trends, she's also seeing growing demand for textured and patterned weaves that add depth, character and tactile appeal while complementing softer, neutral palettes.

Her favourite fabric trend right now? Textured fabrics with three-dimensional surfaces that bring interiors to life through both look and feel.

Life at Mobus
If Indigo had to describe Mobus in three words, they would be: Forward-thinking. Resourceful. Community.

Whether she's reviewing test results, analysing technical data or helping future-proof compliance standards, Indigo's expertise plays a key role in ensuring Mobus continues to deliver quality, confidence and innovation to customers across the industry.

Behind every fabric is a team dedicated to ensuring it performs, complies, looks beautiful and meets the expectations of today's furniture industry. Whether they're testing, analysing, troubleshooting, developing or supporting customers, our Quality and Development team plays a crucial role in helping bring innovative upholstery fabrics to life.

We're incredibly proud of the expertise, passion and attention to detail they bring to Mobus every day.
