Green, Green and More Green
Pantone may have decided to go all Very Peri for their colour of 2022, but green will undoubtedly have a significant impact this year. With health and well-being continuing to be a major priority for 2022, the association with green seems to be influencing the interior industry. From green accessories to fully painted walls and furniture, it looks like you can go as green as you like.
The meaning of green
Green has long been associated with peace, restfulness and security. Now more than ever, these feelings are important to us. The Green trend for 2022 is about creating that calm and balanced feeling, bringing the outside in. We have spent more time in and around our homes over the last couple of years, which has led to a new way of viewing them. They are our retreat, our safe place away from the crazy world.
Pinterest has reported seeing search terms for green interiors increase dramatically over the last few months as people look to embrace the colour. It seems like no room is off-limits as people are going green in the bedroom, kitchen, living and dining room.
50 Shades of Green
Like grey, green comes in many shades, and everyone's idea of green is different. People looking for those relaxed, subtle tones are following a more muted palette of chalky greens. These tones still work with the popular grey trend allowing for a more gentle interior. Crown paint has described the direction as 'liminal' using clear lines, layered textures and muted tones blending the indoors and outdoors. This idea of bringing the outdoors in is the overriding concept driving the green trend. Mixing objects like plants with green furnishings creates a tranquil surrounding.
The selected fabrics below are on-trend, working as an overall across various furniture styles. The colours are strong but not overpowering, allowing the soft tones and delicate textures to create a calm but uplifting atmosphere. These fabrics work perfectly upholstered onto a softly curved sofa or relaxing bedroom headboard.

Add that extra bit of Luxury
While the lighter tones of subtle greens are for some people, others go for a darker, deeper palette. Embracing the outdoors element of the trend, it features colours associated with lush foliage, trees and foresty. The more velvety, deep shades bring a luxurious feeling of comfort. More of a statement, this palette is bold and confident. There is an increased popularity in big velvet sofas, comfy reading chairs and dining seating in rich jewel greens.
Featured below, our Castello and Hopsack ranges give that soft, chunky handle adding that extra comfort, perfect for cosy living room furniture. With an elegant, expensive feel, our velvets look stunning on an occasional chair or beautiful bar stools.

Texture is an experience
Whilst colour is important, texture and pattern are equally as significant. Green as a colour creates emotions; however, feeling/touching has the same effect. We all run our hands down a sofa in a shop before sitting on it. To create an interior we are connected to, we need to blend colour with texture. A texture or patterned fabric can provide an added element to a scheme that may lack feeling and life. By adding extra accessories like cushions and blankets, you can create texture and mix up the colour palette. The fabrics below all bring different elements of pattern and texture, Savannah and Orion create a more of a featured look, whilst Downton brings that tactile appearance.
